Axis Bank History:
Axis Bank was incorporated in the year 1994 as first private sector Bank in India by a group of administrators of UTI, LIC, GIC and other 4 PSU insurance companies with a capital of Rs. 115crores in which 100crores was invested by UTI. Later UTI renamed itself as Axis Bank. Axis Bank is now under the guidance of Smt. Shikha Sharma, Managing Director & CEO and Shri M. M. Agrawal, Deputy Managing Director.

Axis Bank branches are extended to more than 853 including extension counters. 3723 ATMs of Axis Bank provides 24 hour services to the customers and is one of the largest ATM networks in the country. All the branches are furnished with internet facility. Axis Bank register office is located at Ahmedabad and central office at Mumbai.
Axis Bank Financials:
Axis Bank had tied up with Hyundai Motor India Ltd, Tata Motors Ltd and Maruti Udyog Ltd for Car Loans and with IIFCL to provide finance for infrastructural projects to its customers. Axis Bank became the first Indian Bank to successfully issue Foreign Currency Hybrid Capital in the International Market. Axis Bank today is capitalized to the extent of Rs. 359.76 crores with the public holding (other than promoters) at 57.79%.
