SBI Associates call for strike on Sept 27

All India Bank Employees Association has said that the employees and officers working in associate banks of the SBI will go for a strike on September 27 to protest against the merger of their banks with State Bank of India.

Employees of State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Indore and State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur under the banner of AIBEA (All India Bank Employees Association) will participate in the strike.

According to the AIBEA, the merger proposal was made on the plea that the SBI had to be strengthened,the association said it could not be done by closing down the associate banks .

The associate banks had grown and progressed over the years with overwhelming contributions to the economy and in some of the states, these associate banks were even bigger in size and business compared to SBI.
